given to people who have done remarkably goofy things — some of them admirable, some perhaps otherwise the list of winners past and present makes fun reading. i’m particularly glad to see that the 1999 ig nobel prize for literature was awarded to the british standards institute for producing BS-6008, a six page specification on how to make a proper cup of tea.
