i’ve heard lots of stuff about wap being generally useless and not much cop. so i when i tried it out at the weekend - taking advantage of another of the features of my new moby - i wasn’t expecting to be at all impressed. but i was.

standing in the middle of the street unable to remember how to get to a shop i’d lost, i called up wap.yell.com and found the address of the place i wanted. then i used one of the built in wap bits from orange to get driving directions to get to it.

it wasn’t as fast as browsing the net first at home would have been, but i’d already neglected to do that. i could probably have sussed most of it out by phoning scoot or freepages if i’d have been able to remember their phone numbers which i couldn’t. it did make me feel very clever and sci fi like in the middle of the shields road. all i need now is my star trek jumper and lots more beeps.
