blogtree is attempting to record weblog geneology by discovering which weblogs were inspired into life by which other weblogs. i’m having trouble remembering which weblogs i read before i started my own. i’d certainly come across several weblog-like sites before and then found a stack of them all at once at the end of 2000 that included zannah’s #!/usr/bin/girl and rebecca’s pocket and i thought they were a good way of displaying links and keeping a site up to date.

i reasoned why i wanted to keep a weblog in my first post and i still agree with most of what i said there. i was being rather cryptic at the time and i think i’ll leave it that way.

i think i found megnut via rebecca’s pocket and hence found my way to blogger. i figured out i might as well use their free service as write my own scripts to get started. and i never have got round to writing my own…
