a newcastle cabbie has been told that his black cab isn’t black enough. this is weird, newcastle cabs are easily identifiable from the city coat of arms that they carry on their doors in red and white. whether they’re jet black or grey or any other colour doesn’t make any difference to those of us who use them. the news story is also incorrect in that it says minicabs must be a different colour. there are plenty of black minicabs floating about newcastle; they don’t have the coat of arms and they don’t hang about at taxi ranks as they aren’t licensed to pick up off the streets. the council seem to be splitting hairs with this application of dumb bureaucracy.
