a brazilian man is trying to name his son “osama bin laden”. the same man has previously tried to call another of his sons by the name “saddam hussein”. there is apparently a law in brazil that can be invoked to prevent parents from inflicting names on their offspring that might cause them to be mocked. we have no such law in england and i would think that it’s impossible to think of a single name that doesn’t have some possibility for mockery. though perhaps not on the same level as baby osama could grow up to receive.
