🍞Made my first ever loaf of granary (malted & seeded) bread and tried not to inhale it whole before it cooled. So good!
🌚Got through a very dark pathway and it wasn’t so bad. (Not a metaphor, I would have preferred the longer lighter road to the unlit footpath home from the pub but my partner wanted to go that way and we could see well enough, still wouldn’t walk that way alone.)

🧹 Did some tidying up and cleaning out of old bags, shoes, towels, post & broken chargers. The weird stuff that lives in our hallway.
🧶 The delight of watching new patterns appear as you knit in two colours.
🛌 Being super tired at bedtime.

🌞 The sun shining annoyingly on my monitor. But yay, sun!
🌷Spotted my first crocuses appearing on the verges.
🐈 An hilarious case of mistaken cat identity when my partner told me what the cat was up to outside when she was inside with me (the inside cat was the correct tabby).

☕️Cleared a stack of unused mugs out of the kitchen cupboard and into a crate in the shed.
👩🏻🍳Baked some cinnamon rolls, they didn’t turn out great but it was good to try something different, and I’ll try again.
😢 Watching anime that made me cry, but in a good way.

🌧️ Deciding five minutes into a bike ride to go home and stay dry. No point if it’s not enjoyable!
🪦 Had a damp wander through the cemetery later instead. It’s peaceful.
😻There’s a cat asleep on my lap now. Also very peaceful.

👩🏻💻 Got to the library early enough to get my favourite table to work at.
🎶 Maybe it’s weird but I find the background noise of the toddler singing session very soothing; it’s nice knowing none of the children are my responsibility!
👶 A message from friends announcing the safe arrival of their baby.

🌞Woke up and it was morning (rather than the middle of the night and needing to try to get more sleep).
🧶Worked out a plan to use up some yarn I already have.
🪴 Managed to clean the kitchen windowsill working around the immovable houseplant that’s attached itself to various items.

🚙 Car insurance renewal is slightly less than last year. Not feeling ripped off is a pretty low bar but I’m happy this passes under it all the same.
📧Sent a second email straight away when half the query in the first was ignored rather than waiting days for the person who replied to realise they missed half of it. (Obviously that never happens but still I feel I ought to politely wait 🤷🏻♀️)
🥪 A veggie sausage sandwich was just what I wanted & we had leftover sausages to use up. Yum.

📖 A lazy morning reading.
🎲 A fun afternoon of board games
🌟 Having the stubbornness to solve a ridiculously convoluted Sunday logic puzzle. (Inkwell games Stars if you’re into that kind of thing, don’t start with the Sunday one though!) That took a good chunk of the evening!

🎄The pile of tinsel that’s been in the middle of the living room floor for a week has made it back into the storage box.
📦 And the storage boxes are back in the cupboard.
🏙️ I got Cities Skylines 2, which had been an enormous stack of errors, back up and running. (Whether it’s actually worth playing or not is still 🤷🏻♀️)

✅It was feeling like an unproductive day but I rescued it and things got done.
💰 Not least of which was my tax return, which was an absolute pain the arse this year but it’s submitted now.
🥶 It’s nice coming back into a warm house when it’s bloody freezing outside.

🥱 Got up and dealt with the thing that was worrying me. Temporary fix but I’ll sleep better tonight.
🛞 Bike puncture but I could walk everywhere I was going and I think the slime has saved the tube. Reinflated and I think it’s ok.
🎹 The cat’s piano playing is improving; a very musical interlude this evening.

🙃 An ordinary day, in an ordinary life, in an ordinary suburban house.
🧾 Found an invoice I’d forgotten to send months ago, but it’s still going to get paid.
🧠 I feel like my brain might just about be getting back into gear.

🚆 Despite a cancelled train and a bit of snow the offspring got safely home.
❄️ A reflective moment with the last light of a winter’s day.
🥧 Ate the last of the mince pies. (Though still have a smidge of mincemeat in the jar so could magic a few more up I guess.)

⛄️ Enough snow has fallen to be decorative, not enough to be a nuisance (well, 🤞 for tomorrow anyway).
🌟 Had an insightful breakthrough solving a really tricky logic puzzle.
📖 Lots of reading getting done.

🗑️The chocked up paper & cardboard recycling bins got collected this morning.
❄️I was paying enough attention that I caught myself when I slipped on the frosty pavement.
💯100% win record in 2026 board games (i.e. I’ve only played one game and I beat the offspring for a change)

☕️ We have good coffee at home.
💷 One bit of many money related admin tasks got sorted out.
🥕A bag of root vegetable crisps I bought for Christmas are still in the cupboard, which means I can now open them and munch them all myself.

🗺️ Reading historical fiction and looking up the locations on StreetView as you go.
🚆 Trains running without problems on a bank holiday for a change.
🔼 Decoding the page numbers in the Matt Parker book I just started reading.
