🤗 The teen’s bestie got here despite the best efforts of train companies to keep them away.
🎭 We’ve had a fab night out at the outdoor theatre. I now know the full context of the exclamation ”👜 A handbag!” which I only vaguely knew before.
🌧️ There were about five drops of rain just as the performance began, but that was all!

🪟 We got an installation date for our new blinds. Good to know they are coming.
🥖 I made olive bread and sun dried tomato bread and they both worked out pretty well with the correct amount of crustiness.
✅ I completed a (-n entirely pointless) set of random things in a game. A few days ago the teen and I had worked out that the probability of my not having collected them all already was 0.6%. I enjoyed the probability conversations as much as the gaming.

📊I analysed the data and our initial feeling about it was completely wrong. It’s always good to find out you are wrong before rather than after.
✂️ Went mad with the secateurs and now we have more garden than jungle.
🤦🏻♀️ Got to the bottom of a ridiculously dumb problem I’d created where data didn’t match because I’d forgotten that spaces exist.

🤔I accidentally dropped into planning and organising mode and it was probably more useful than the work I would otherwise have done.
📚 Sorting out some of the excess books so there are less on the floor and more on the shelves.
🌧️ I can hear the rain on the conservatory roof from my office and it’s a very soothing soundtrack.

🤓 Picked out some frames and ordered new reading glasses.
🧶 Picked up the stitches correctly for the next square of the blanket, at the second attempt.
🛋️ Nudged the living room furniture around a bit, it’s not right yet but it’s better than it was.

🥒 My fridge is no longer full of vegetables that have variously turned to liquid, dehydrated or sprouted.
👁️ Got around to getting my eyes tested, and cried quite a bit less than I normally do!
🍨 I told myself I’d treat myself to ice cream after the eye test but I forgot until now, so late night ice cream is being consumed.

🌄The light was gorgeous when I went out this morning. Half of me thought it would have been a better idea to go back to sleep but the morning half of me loved the clarity of it.
🥪 Crossed paths with my partner kind of unexpectedly and so we got lunch together.
😴 The not-morning half of me took an afternoon nap and morning half of me was happy with that as well so it was all good.

🐿️ Why did the squirrel cross the road? It didn’t need a reason. I watched it climb the tree on one side and follow an overhead route to the tree on the other side and it was magical.
🌅 Evening sunlight is always good.
🌙 There’s no rain forecast so I’m trusting that my washing will be fine on the line overnight as I cannot be arsed to go and fetch it in.

🚦 I went past the traffic lights that have a sad face 😞 painted on the red light, and a smiley face 😃 on the green light and they both cheered me up.
🔁I was able to dig some lost info out of backups.
🏡I played the Dorfromantik video game after playing the board game at the weekend and it was delightful too.

🥱Having the freedom to have a lazy work day to recover from the busy holiday days.
🔧The water pump on the boat has been fixed.
🧊Figuring out how to play Netrunner again with the teen because we obviously didn’t play enough games over the weekend and we’re still up for more.

📸I found some photos of us together playing games taken at the con which are nice to have.
🌾We had to speed run the end of the Stardew Valley board game when it needed to be packed up because most of the rest of the board game library was already leaving in a van but we’re pretty certain we won.
🛌 I feel like I need a holiday to recover from two mini-holidays but a night in my own bed will do nicely.

🌚 This hotel room is super dark. Usually I find them a visual cacophony of little LED indicators and lit up displays that it’s hard to turn off. Very pleasant (and calming) to just have a pinprick of light from the peephole in the door.
🤫It’s also far quieter than expected considering we’re in a big city centre.
🥞 And they have a DIY waffle iron for breakfast!

🎲 An excellent afternoon and evening of being thrashed at board games by the teen.
🍜 Plus a nice meal out with them.
🌸 Also we had cherry blossom drinks. The sakura G&T was really very nice indeed.

📶 We have barely any phone signal on this bit of the canal and it’s good to just switch off and do something else instead.
🦆 Feeding the ducks is an absolute delight.
💧 This canal is a lot easier to navigate than where we used to be. More water and smoother bends.

🌬️ Got the boat safely back to its mooring despite the wind trying very hard to make me drive it pretty much any place else.
💦 Found someone who is going to fix the water leak we found on the boat last night (a plumbing issue rather than a boat sinking one!)
🏡 I’m home from one mini-holiday and off on another one tomorrow.

🚤 We’re back on the boat for the first time in ages and ages.
🚴♂️The guy on a bike who knocked on the boat to tell us our mooring pin had come out and we were drifting across the canal (plus he helped us pull it back in to the side).

🍦I remembered I was a grown up and could buy myself fancy Italian gelato from the shop I walked past if I wanted. (It had been a long hot walk, I wanted, I did.)
🚲 Got my bike back into working order.
🥇 The Olympics have been lovely, I have a load of new favourite sports and athletes, and hope they have better weather for the closing ceremony than the opening.

🛌 I caught up on some sleep and have therefore been a lot less tired, which makes me happy, and also less grumpy, which makes the rest of the household happy.

😱Our Arkham Horror card game campaign is going well, which is to say we’re only half dead and have a new pack of cards I bought in 2018 to open tomorrow.
🐶 The lady and the dog who were very concerned about me when my bike tube exploded (I was more concerned about them as I knew what was happening).
😴 I’ve survived the day and it’s bedtime now.

The weekend has been rather exhausting but…
👋 The in-laws have left & everyone is still alive.
🪡 I sewed a stack of ends in on my crochet blanket.
🏐 Had a fun time watching Olympic volleyball with the teen who knows far more about it than me (mostly acquired from reading manga).

☕️It could have been the sugar, the caffeine or the paracetamol that did the trick but my headache eventually cleared up.
🧼The house is as clean and tidy as it’s going to get before the in-laws arrive. And it was a three person job getting it that way.
🗯️The bizarre references the BMX commentator was getting in. (We decided he had a bingo card and had to hit large hadron collider and Swedish architecture on it.)

⛈️If I have to be awake in the middle of the night (and it seems I do) then lying listening to the thunder and pounding rain is a pretty good way to spend the time.
🚰 The water out of the tap is still cool on a hot day.
😱 The in-laws are visiting at the weekend and I haven’t panicked about it yet.
