⏰ I forgot the clocks had changed until I was up and out riding my bike.

🌄 The morning light was fabulous and I would have missed it if I’d noticed the time change earlier.

👨‍🍳 The cooker clock is now right again!

Yesterday’s #3GoodThings

🌧️ The map said it was a 37 minute walk and the weather forecast said it would rain in 29 minutes; we stayed dry and the rain started just as we arrived.

🌈 Earlier in the day there was a glorious rainbow.

🪑 Thinking it was standing room only in the bar but then finding a hidden away free table.

🗡️After being reluctant to start on it I’m actually enjoying the meditative aspect of stripping wallpaper. (That emoji is the best I could do for a wallpaper stripping tool.)

🏊🏻‍♀️ A quiet pool meant I didn’t have any awkward slow down or attempt to overtake decision moments.

🍰 Stopping to fuel ourselves with cake before starting on the wallpaper stripping was a good idea.

🔩 The past-me who stuck a “kitchen table” label inside a bag of nuts and bolts was my favourite version of myself this afternoon. (The past-me that then hid them in the bottom of another bag didn’t get quite so much love.)

🛋️ Walked into a sofa shop and we both liked the same one straight away. Not ordered it yet but it was quite promising.

🎲 Enjoyed a game of Tapestry this evening (came last but it was fun).

🔑 Got the keys to our new house. Which means I can stop worrying that we’re caught up in a scam where estate agents & solicitors take all our money now. (Well, they still have all our money but we do seem to have a house at the end of it!)

📦 Took a couple of car loads of random junk over to the new house but there is no great hurry to move everything. Planning a chilled out move this time.

😴 Didn’t mean to nap but it happened & was good.

🤗 Caught up with my parents and my teen.

💬The weird rambling interconnected conversations we had.

🛌 I’m really looking forward to sleeping tonight.

Today’s #3GoodThings

🌈Little rainbows on the page of my book, cast by the lamp light passing through my wine glass.

🌬️ The washing did dry on the line in the end.

👖 Clothes shopping went well, picked up more than I went for so can probably avoid shops for a good long time now!

🏡 We exchanged contracts to buy our new home.

📦 But we still have the rental house for a while so there is no mad panic to actually move and time to sort some issues and arrange things.

🧥 It was my turn to leave my jacket in a cafe today (partner & I seem to be on a forgetfulness rota) & it was there to pick up when I went back.

#3GoodThings from a weekend of board gaming

🙋All the people who volunteer to help out and make cons work.

😁 The delight of watching people learn new things as they move from initial uncertainty through to grinning enjoyment.

😲The fact that even though I’ve worn my throat out talking and I’m tired, I’m not completely mentally exhausted from being social.

🐈I woke up too early but the cat lay down on top of me so I couldn’t move without disturbing her so I had no choice but to fall asleep again.

🧍🏻‍♀️I rearranged things just enough that my sit/stand desk can do standing mode again, somehow I always get it trapped.

🛏️ There will be clean sheets on my bed very shortly…

🏫The teen is safely back on campus in the UK after a horribly messy delayed journey back from France.

🇫🇷 Apart from the journey the trip was reportedly great and I’m proud of them for going.

🏅I feel like I’ve levelled up to “parent of adult” this week and though it’s been stressful watching them travelling from afar I wouldn’t swap back to parenting a toddler all the same.

💎Stained glass transom windows lit up at night are lovely little jewels on evening walks.

👵🏻 👴🏻 Met up with the in-laws (actually outlaws I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️) for coffee and they seemed very well.

🚦No one got hurt when a car zoomed through a red light at a pedestrian crossing. (I really don’t like the “bad thing happened but it was ok” that often seems like toxic gratitude but I was very glad we all just looked at each other and boggled.)

🌼 Bright yellow splashes of daffodils keep appearing.

🎲 Realising it’s just a week to go until Airecon, my favourite board game con.

🔴Beetroot is such a bizarre vegetable and I have a lot of affection for it, if feeling affectionate towards vegetables isn’t actually completely bizarre in itself, which it might be.

🚶🏻‍♀️ My afternoon walk was much longer than I meant it to be but that was all good.

🥛 I remembered to go and fetch milk for morning.

🌌 Which meant I also got an evening walk and since the sky was clear I said hello to Orion.

👃 Hung some washing out to dry on the line for the first time this year, they didn’t get properly dry but they smell of fresh air which is great.

🍪 Biscuit supply is restocked.

📉Analysing some finances and finding the situation is brighter than I thought.

👩🏻‍💻The problem I’d been stuck on since Thursday turned out to have a ridiculously simple solution in the end.

😋Veggie sausage rolls.

☀️ Fabulous morning sunshine that totally changed my mood.

🎶 Suddenly realising the acoustic singing group I could hear were singing Take On Me, which was my favourite song in 1985, and reflecting on how “it’s no better to be safe than sorry” is a sentiment I gradually understood over the years.

🚲 Hitting the 5000 mile mark on my ebike.

📱 I was able to sort out the teen’s phone from afar and keep them online when the international roaming didn’t kick in automatically as the network said it should do.

🏡 The teen has now arrived at their friend’s house.

🧶 I got my crochet going and I like it so far.

1 March 2024

🧶 I found my box of crochet hooks (and knitting needles) whilst looking for my partner’s lost reading glasses.

👓 His glasses were eventually located at the coffee shop we went to this morning.

🚂 The teen is off on their first big travel adventure alone and I am both enjoying living vicariously through them and absolutely terrified that something will go wrong. Very pleased they are happy to text me their progress all the time though.
