A day of anxiety but there were at least #3GoodThings among the rubbish ones
🛞 Sorted out my partner’s bike despite the first inner tube springing a puncture as I put it on.
👩🏻💻I did get some actual work done despite the 4G connection that endlessly swapped my IP address.
🧵 And I finally got to watch the Sewing Bee final before I saw any spoilers about the winner. I won’t spoil anything other than to say the winner’s dress was awesome, which hardly counts!

🏊♀️ Checked out one of our new local swimming pools, the changing facilities were seriously 1970s but the pool was nice and overall I enjoyed the swim.
💤 A pizza-for-lunch induced nap that means I feel slightly more alive this evening than I have done recently.
📸Everyone who puts alt text image descriptions on Mastodon because it’s really useful when your connection is very slow about loading the pics.

👩🏻💻I got my desk all set up again. (No desire to do any work though, hey, it’s Saturday.)
🧼 I got the washing machine working (though it’s draining into the sink for now) and the washing line up (though it’s kind of wonky).
🌬️It’s been wildly windy and all the clothes got dried. Hurray!

🐈Me and the cat had a good trip moving her from the old house to the new house, not too much meowing, just a conversational level.
🍳I found the box with the saucepans in.
😺And the cat’s explored all over and found a dark corner to settle in.

Today’s #3GoodThings
🚚All our stuff arrived safely at the new house.
↕️A garage big enough to store most of the boxes so we don’t have to get stressed over unpacking.
🥗A nice coffee shop lunch was a good break in the day.

Today’s been a long day. My #3GoodThings are
🚛 The guys who loaded all our stuff into the removals van
📦 And they didn’t think our packing was too terrible even though some of our boxes and tape weren’t up to the job - I’m happy to be better than someone if I can’t be perfect
🍪 Tonight I’m dipping my white chocolate digestives in my white wine and I don’t care what anyone thinks about that.

and I completely forgot to that one of my #3GoodThings was going to be that it finally stopped lashing it down with rain long enough to get the huge backlog of laundry cleared! Never mind packing the animals in two by two, they must’ve had huge wardrobes on the ark.

🚲 A trip that took me 25 minutes by car a couple of weeks ago took me 14 minutes by bike today. (OK, car would have been faster on a Sunday morning than it was in the evening rush hour but the bike wouldn’t have been that much slower then.)
🚙 Made it home safely after a horribly rainy car journey over the moors.
📦 Box packing is pretty much on schedule and not too stressful today.

🏊🏻♀️ A cool peaceful swim was just the calm I needed.
🗣️My partner’s decision not to tell his parents we were moving house until it was fait accompli was the right one, I think. I’m pleased it’s all in the open now though.
🧶His mum was really pleased with the cardigan I’ve finally finished knitting for her - she started it but got confused (and the pattern was terrible, I also got confused, it’s had 4 sleeves knitted for it!)

⚔️ The universe is playing a fun game called ‘how many ways can we make Kirsty cry today’ but #3GoodThings is my secret weapon to fight it. That was going to be the intro but then I realised it ought to be a bonus thing itself.
🦋 The Cabbage White butterfly who danced around cheering me up.
🪜I usually average 15 floors climbed per day, today it’s 60 and I’m not done yet.
👍 None of the things making me cry are my own body. Not even my knee after 60 flights of stairs.

📦 We have many boxes which makes packing easier because we can be wilfully inefficient with them, which also helps them not be super densely heavy.
🚗 Getting the teen learner driver to do all the driving including loads of tricky junctions & a multi storey car park that’s basically a helter skelter for cars.
☔️ My washing all dried even though it got caught in an absolute downpour that wasn’t on the weather forecast.

🚶🏻♀️Took advantage of waking up early by going for a long walk in a new place.
🍞 The first coffee shop had mediocre coffee but excellent toast.
☕️ The second coffee shop had great coffee (and a good looking breakfast menu I’ll try out another time).

It’s been a manic day with way more than #3GoodThings
🔑 We picked up the keys to our rental house.
💷I’m way beyond grateful to be able to alleviate the stress of selling our home by renting somewhere else to live whilst we do it, and being able to afford to do that.
🤕 My headache eventually gave up after I threw every painkiller I could find at it (I think caffeine and sugar were the two that worked best 🤷🏻♀️), though also after I stopped driving in the rain which really wasn’t helping.

This week my life is imitating a roller coaster and I haven’t got round to doing my #3GoodThings but there have been plenty of good things.
🎢I’m not only clinging onto the coaster, most of the time I’m enjoying the ride.
💻 Work project is chugging along too and pieces are all falling into place.
🤗My family are a laid back but supportive bunch and I like them.

👋 Waving at people from the boat.
⛈️Perfect timing getting back from my walk a minute before yet another almighty thunderstorm kicked off.
🐦 A flock of swifts passing overhead.

🚤 The fixed, free of rust and full of grease, tiller on my narrowboat was fantastic to drive today (didn’t stop me bashing the boat into a bridge but it’s not actually magic I guess!)
⚡️A sudden afternoon thunderstorm meant I could laze on the bed with my book for a while longer without feeling guilty about it.
👖A dry change of clothes when I ended up getting wet on my bike ride anyway.

🚤 The boat’s in one piece and we got numerous odd jobs sorted on it.
🛞 I got a puncture fixed on one of the folding bikes.
🍻 And the bikes got us to a nice microbar, and possibly more importantly, safely back to the boat again.

💜I thought “Obsidian ought to have bookmarks” and lo, the feature appeared in front of me.
👩🏻💻I said “the code for this is going to be really complicated to figure out” and an hour later I had it written.
🥰I keep thinking other people will be annoyed with me but they keep being nice.

🛌 Got a full night of sleep.
📺Long overdue FaceTime chat with my parents.
🍓Strawberries, meringues and squirty cream.

🧟♀️ Despite a terrible night’s sleep I did get some useful work done.
⏮️Version control! When a zombie (see above) randomly deletes bits of your code and renames variables you can get it back working again.
🎲 My board game group who put up with me throwing pieces on the floor and being completely incapable of throwing dice on the table, even with a tray. (And that’s not just when I’m a 🧟♀️ if I’m honest).

🧠The todo list I wrote yesterday was a useful aid even though my brain went trampolining all over it and made it longer too.
🍫 Found some oat and dark choc granola bars (lurking in the kitchen) and they were very nice.
🚗 Learner driver supervision was a mess of closed roads and diversions and the teen coped well with it (and the evening sunlight in their eyes too).

🗒️Wrote a long (work related) to do list to keep track of everything I need to get to this week, which is helping me relax rather than panic tonight.
🚙 We got a load of garage & attic junk loaded into the car to dispose of tomorrow.
🌬️ Whilst the wind was a pain on my bike it was exactly what I wanted for getting the laundry dry.

🚶🏻♀️I’ve lived in this area for over 20 years and I’m still finding new footpaths to explore.
🌇But I’m looking forward to moving someplace else for new adventures.
🏡 And we might just have the next place sorted out.
