🤕Having the flexibility to go back to bed for a bit when your head kills.

💊Painkillers.

🏊‍♀️ Went swimming when I was feeling better, and felt like I could swim forever as my head was so light. It was a very pleasant change from the morning!

💬Felt good to get feedback on a work project that I’ve been soloing for way too long.

🍦Remembered that we restocked the freezer with ice creams. Ate one, obviously!

🇩🇪Managing to remember just about enough about German to assist the teen with their exam practice.

🚙Car bump. But only broken bits of plastic resulted. Flesh & blood all fine. All fixable.

🗂️Database imports at work all running smoothly.

📺 New YouTube series from a creator I really enjoy.

🌬️Yesterday (when I forgot to post) was the first line dried washing day of the year. A seasonal milestone worth celebrating.

🎭A nice evening at the theatre today.

🚙And a safe drive home in the rain.

🧽”I’ll just wipe that sticky shelf” escalated wildly and took too much time but now my fridge is super clean and not full of lost liquified veg.

👩🏻‍💻When I finally got to my desk I got the database thing I’ve been trying to do all week figured out.

🌸There’s blossom appearing on trees.

😑Holding onto my temper. Neither I, nor the person I want to lose my temper with, can do anything much about the actual thing. I get that being a third party is exhausting so I am trying not make anything worse.

🥇Regular board game opponents are ill so I beat the laminated cardboard ones instead.

☎️ Made a whole stack of phone calls and sorted out lots of things. Didn’t get the work I wanted done but my home-admin game has been top notch.

🌓I’m pleased I thought to wonder exactly when the equinox was just now as the answer was “about now”.

⏳It feels like a long time since the solstice & on the whole I like it when time passes slowly.

🥘Dinner with my brother, lovely to catch up with him.

🥐My partner got me breakfast in bed (ok, it was on the boat where the bed and the dining table are about the same distance from the kitchen, but I didn’t have to move so it still counts).

🌱Green grass is definitely trying to grow all over the muddy towpaths.

🪄The teen found some ancient Magic The Gathering decks and wanted to play them with me this evening. (It was more ‘beat me with them’ tbh, but it’s all good).

🧥 I left my coat in the pub last night - very relieved it was there when they opened up today. It was one I sewed myself & the best waterproof I’ve ever had so I’d have been really upset to lose it.

↩️Winded the boat (ie turned it 180°) without the aid of the broken bow thruster.

✅Belatedly realised the bow thruster wasn’t broken but I’d just forgotten the magic incantation to switch it on (press the on switch twice 🙄). It’s not broken! A good thing!

🔥Managed to buy a Calor gas refill without any trouble today; everywhere was out of stock last time I tried.

🌈 Driving my boat towards the most glorious double rainbow. (Bonus: I hadn’t forgotten how to steer.)

📚 I’m already loving this book and I’m only on page 4.

☀️ I went out to defrost the car but the sun had got there first

☑️ I’ve now collected (ie walked down) all the streets inside the ring road on CityStrides, it’s interesting seeing different bits of the town

😴 For the second day running I managed to get back to sleep again after the cat woke me up way too early

🥞 We had pancakes for breakfast and even though the hotel had run out of maple syrup we made it work with yoghurt, berries and Nutella.

💎Some jewellery I thought I’d lost ages ago turned up hiding in a pocket of my travel bag.

🛌 Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight.

🧒🏻Really nice having the teen to myself for the weekend.

🎲We’ve definitely got better at judging board games by the cover and haven’t picked any complete duds this year.

♦️And there will be more games tomorrow.

❄️I quite enjoyed shovelling the snow today. Glad I don’t have to do it often!

🚙 Car journey was no trouble once we got off the drive.

🎲 Playing games with the teen and other friends, all good.

📑I thought I was just procrastinating and playing with my notes, but it meant I had a good look through all the project files and it turned into an actual useful review.

⛄️ The snow is very pretty. And you know it won’t stay long at this time of year.

🤞So though it looks bad out there this evening I’m pretty certain we will get to our board game con tomorrow once the roads have cleared up a bit.

👩🏻‍💻First thing Monday morning I coded something that was intractable on Friday afternoon. Brains work while you rest. Definitely a good thing to remember.

🗣️Talked through some worries and had my mind put at rest. Glad I mentioned it.

🏙️The Cities Skylines 2 game was announced. Yay!

🚂The rail replacement bus that I saw saying “choo choo” on the display that made me laugh. Glad I had no need to catch the train though.

🚲 Went a completely different way than I intended on my bike but it was an interesting ride.

🐈 The cat trying to drink my bath water also made me laugh. She’s not quite sure what to make of baths.

👉Discovered the FingerpostFriday hashtag just before going out for a walk where there are good fingerposts. (You’ll have to wait until Friday sorry!)

🪡 Finally getting up the courage to start quilting my quilt (or whatever you call a quilt that isn’t quilted yet.)

💭The teen reminiscing about primary school, quite fun.

🙋🏻‍♀️Asking for help. I annoy myself by struggling through, even though I love helping others, so it’s good to remember that not being able to work out the answer by yourself all the time doesn’t make you an idiot.

🤞The teen finished their mock exams, and thinks they went ok. Though being mocks they are a learning experience either way, so it’s all good.

👍Everything feels under control at the moment. Hope that’s not a calm before the storm thing!

👩🏻‍💻I did the work, the problem isn’t solved yet, but I have more ideas for tomorrow. Trying to judge myself by effort rather than results.

🧦I sorted out the odd sock mountain. And did data analysis on it because, well, that’s how I amuse myself.

🧘🏻‍♀️Bedtime yoga has calmed me down a lot.

🪶The pheasant (I think) who ran down the road next to me before leaping off into a field and trying to take off.

🧅 Roasted red onions. I thought of this and then remembered I picked onion rings yesterday. Apparently I’m just smitten with onions at the moment. And now I want pickled onions to complete the trilogy but I don’t have any.

😴 But I do have new pyjamas.
