🌅For the first time this year there was still light when I went out at 18:00. After sunset & bike lights required but I am very glad to see more light in the afternoon.
📆February seems to have taken its time but then it dashes out the door quickly at the end. 👋
🧅Onion rings. Way tastier than they ought to be.

🏘️A walk around the bit of town I lived in for a while 20 years ago. I drive nearby often but rarely on foot. Interesting thinking how my perspective has changed over time.
🕹️The learner driver teen is better at clutch control than I am after mainly driving an automatic for the last decade.
😴I’m too tired to remember anything else than happened today, and that’s probably a good thing in itself.

🥶My ears didn’t freeze as I was cycling home; it must be getting slightly more springy.
👉Found a nice road that I’d inexplicably never cycled down before.
🛋️ Getting all the exercise out of the way in the morning in order to spend a lazy afternoon on the sofa.

🎂I’ve nearly finished making the birthday cake.
🤮Didn’t overdose on leftover buttercream; almost, but not quite.
🎁And everything else is ready to roll for the teen’s day tomorrow.

🦡I saw a badger on my walk this evening. I didn’t realise but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before! They are much bigger than I expected.
👩🏻💻I got less work done than I wanted to do, but it was more than lazy-me wanted to do. I’ll take a non-zero day.
🛠️Plus I’ve done the hard bit of that now, just the boring bits to do.

I have had such an unfocused day of procrastination but the results were:
🎞️I found some old negatives and they’ve got pics on them that are making my brother happy.
🎲 I wrote a blog post about the games I played the most last year.
🪟I cleaned the kitchen windows and rearranged the worktops.
Tomorrow’s a new day and I can try and focus on the actual things that need doing then!

🚲 No punctures today. (Different bike, not got yesterday’s repaired yet.)
💻 Moved a personal web project on a lot.
🥱 End of a four day weekend and I’m mentally rested and physically shattered which hopefully means I’ll sleep well and be ready for a busy week.

🛞The bike puncture could have been a lot more trouble. Not fixed it yet, but I wasn’t far out when it happened and could walk back.
🚢 I (co-)own a boat which was never even a dream, but it’s great.
💭I’m wondering what other magic is out there that I haven’t discovered yet. I love that there’s always new stuff to love.

🧶The shop assistant who remarked that my hand knit jumper was “very magnificent”.
🎁Getting a major bit of a big birthday present sorted out.
🌬️We changed our plans for the day because of the weather, and that was just fine.

📺Riding my bike around an estate at dusk and being amazed that everyone watches the same tv show - about 17:30 with a purple background? I’d forgotten that concurrent viewing was a thing, but it was oddly nice spotting the same thing in window after window.
🪴Rosemary. Which always reminds me of a lovely week in France in 2002.
🥃Drinking Aberlour whisky. Which always reminds me of a lovely day out in 2004.
Strong on nostalgia tonight it seems.

👩🏻💻Got on with the work thing I was procrastinating on and pretty much finished it and it was quite simple.
💎Tidied up lots of project files in Obsidian and added older stuff too now have a pleasantly organised feeling.
🌿I have a couple of things to do in the morning but then I’m taking the rest of the week off.

☎️ Nice to chat to my mum on the phone.
🏔️I learnt about hill charts and they showed me something about why I struggle with the stage of the project I’m in at the moment.
📚 Took several bags of books to Oxfam, which leaves us space to buy others back.

☀️ There was lovely bright sunshine this afternoon.
🕊️I accidentally put my headphones into noise cancelling mode when I was out walking and somehow it cancelled most everything apart from the birds singing.
🚘 And no one ran me over while I was walking about with the world’s volume turned low. I was being pretty careful with the 🛑 stop and 👀 look bits without the 👂 listen bit!

🚲 My bike ride today turned out to be the longest I’d taken since last August.
📊I love how easy it is to collect stupid amounts of data (on myself, for myself) these days.
⏰ I don’t need to set an alarm for Monday morning.

🚌 The front seat above the driver on a double decker is the best seat and today it was mine.
😻The cat napped on my lap and my legs didn’t go to sleep for a change.
🥃I’m still working my way through the Christmas bottle of cream liqueur.

😴 The teen got their big project submitted and can now sleep for a week. (I’ll miss being proof reader in chief though.)
🧀 We had cheesecake to celebrate.
📲 I realised I could install iOS apps on my silicon MacBook and use their shortcuts from there which makes some of my workflows way smoother.

🖥️I felt like an idiot when I eventually thought to try “have you tried switching it off and on again?” to fix the monitor that would not wake up. But yeah, I’m very happy to have a working monitor.
🍋 Lemon curd Swiss roll.
🍋 Thinking about drinking citron pressé outside a café bar in the square in a small town somewhere in France in the summer heat was just a nice daydream this afternoon. My imagination warmed me up.

📚 I finished a good book before breakfast.
🧾I shredded a ton of old paperwork, mostly from 2007/8, and I only jammed the shredder once.
🦆My business turned 25 years old sometime about now, we’ve lost track of the actual date we started the website. It was never supposed to be a business but it seems to have worked out ok!

😻The cat let me have a bit of a lie in this morning.
🚀 My friend liked the first Welcome to the Moon adventure so that’s looking good to be a regular at game night now.
🔐 The teen is in super enthusiastic explaining mode, today it’s all about cryptography, privacy, security and how crappy governments can be.

🌅Stopped and watched the changing colours of the sunrise for a couple of minutes.
🧶Think I’ve finally figured out where my mother-in-law went wrong in her knitting. (She gave me a half knitted cardi for the yarn ages ago since she’d given up having got confused in the pattern but I’m finishing knitting it for her.)
🌞There just seemed to be noticeably more daylight today.

☕️ My partner made me a super-sized latte at home as when I went out to ride to the coffee shop I forgot my bike lock so couldn’t stop there for one.
☀️ It was a nice sunny morning and I enjoyed my bike ride anyway.
🛋️ Spent most of the day crashed out on the sofa noodling with websites that I can do 100% my own way without concern for anyone else, which makes a change from weekdays when I have to worry about everyone else.

📦 New board game delivery day.
🚀 So a new game played twice, one loss, one win. Enjoyed playing solo too.
🐮 Sights on my walk included a herd of black cows lying down in a wood. (They were over the wall from me, else it would have been a scary thing.)

📆Friday is, weirdly, my least favourite day of the week, but today has been quite good.
🍞🧀Managing to have bread & cheese for lunch and tea is a result, even if it’s not a hugely nutritionally sound one.
🍩Plus there were custard doughnuts. Which is pretty much bread-ish & not-cheese-but-kinda-dairy over again I guess but that seems to be my happy zone today.

🧽I cleaned the kitchen floor, which is a good thing anyway but also because it’s the biggest space in the house…
🥪…to lay out a quilt sandwich (two layers of fabric with wadding in between) which was reasonably successful. There are a few wrinkles to smoosh out another day, but I’m pleased enough for today.
🍫 Remembered I had hidden a Caramel Twirl from myself so I could find it and enjoy it later. So I did.

🎧I got new headphones and they make the world quieten down.
🪟I cleaned the mould of ages off the hard to reach bits of my windows.
💬The teen had a presentation to do which is not their thing at all but came home happy and said it went well.
