🚗I have negotiated the teenage learner driver car insurance obstacle course. Whether I did it successfully only time will tell.

📝I downloaded @tooot and it has a drafts feature and line breaks in phone posts. No idea yet if it is otherwise any good but those were both features I wanted.

🪡I’m 19/20 squares done on my Sashiko embroidery sampler.

🎲My board game group couldn’t make it but I pulled out a game to play solo instead and enjoyed it.

🤦🏻‍♀️I procrastinated by building myself some anti-procrastination tools. Hopefully a good thing for another day if not for today.

🏊‍♀️Apparently people don’t go swimming in the fog either so the pool was quiet again. (Indoor heated pool btw, I don’t understand why the weather makes such a difference to the numbers, but I enjoy it more when it is calmer.)

😡Talked myself out of being annoyed with myself for sleeping badly and being tired. Being grumpy with yourself is utterly pointless.

🖥️Tired brain was actually quite good at coding I think, not so jumpy and excitable. Might be an illusion, I’ll find out when I look at the work tomorrow, but it’s a nice illusion.

🚶🏻‍♀️Had a nice long walk anyway and there were bubbly pink clouds at sunset.

🚗Drove a manual car for the first time in a dozen years or so. Not exactly the smoothest gear changes ever but I didn’t stall or anything.

📦I have one less box of junk. It was impressive hoarding of mostly instruction leaflets, also from a dozen-ish years ago oddly, but pretty much all entirely unnecessary.

🏡Being safe inside a warm house with the wind howling outside.

👩‍👧I love the varied stuff I learn from my kid. Today’s TeenTalk™️ was something like “sociolinguistics in post-war Germany”.

🛍️I avoided mindless consumerism day. I did buy some lunch and some beer so it wasn’t quite a buy nothing day, but I didn’t buy anything I wouldn’t normally do.

🍷A box of wine has been opened and it’s all still in the box. Which is slightly different to last time we tried when we poured most of it on the floor. 😂

📝I wrote a “need to do today” and a “would like to do today” list. I just about got through the first one. And that is fine.

🥧First apple & blackberry pie of the winter.

🧶Finished off knitting a blanket square that felt like it was taking forever. Realised it was two squares knitted together (so more of a rectangle really!) so it makes sense it took so much longer than felt reasonable.

😴 I slept all night long.

💻️ I solved a problem with some code that was being super frustrating and almost had me in tears yesterday.

🌌 The wind was blowing the clouds away as I was walking this evening and revealing the stars.

👕 I got to the bottom of the laundry basket.

🍪 Aldi had Chocolate Oaties in stock for the first time in weeks.

🛌 My bed is comfy and warm, and I am very tired.

🌧️The forecast was horrible for this afternoon so I went for a walk in the morning to stay dry.

📆I love having the flexibility to do that, and the rest of the day worked well for doing things in a different order to usual.

🧀Halloumi exists and my partner made made a very nice meal out of it. (I said “tea” originally but that sounded like he was brewing it.)

📲Tried out a new bike directions app, it got confused when I missed a turning so I didn’t get where I was planning on going, but I got to the coffee shop and that was far enough really so all was good.

▶️I’m far enough behind on the current series of Only Connect that I can watch multiple episodes at a time.

🎲I just found out about a new game from a Mastodon post, which is pretty cool.

🍕Saturday night is pizza night.

🗺️I was trying to code up some geographical data, just for fun, and the text version looked terrible but when I tried to put it on an actual map I realised I might be getting somewhere and just misunderstanding the text.

🪡My embroidery is slowly getting there, actually 18/20 complete, which is more than getting there.

It’s hard to come up with things on days that have been perfectly nice but not very exciting really!

🎲impromptu games night, at which one of the games, which usually gives a really rude interpretation of your score said:

🧠”Do your friends call you the brain?” which was nice (my friends promptly called me Brian, of course 🙄) (it was a score of 37 at Encore!)

🐘 It’s been good to see Mastodon coping ok today, not great, and lots of frustrated newcomers I’m sure, but it’s only been slow & not down, for me at least. (I feel like an old hand after what, a week? 😂)

🌧️ It rained all day but I managed to do everything I needed and stay just about dry.

🍰 There was lemon curd swiss roll.

📺 One of my favourite Cities Skylines YouTubers has a new episode out this evening so I can get my knitting done but play video games by proxy at the same time.

🛠️Unexpected notification that the boiler on my boat had been serviced. It’s nice dealing with nice workmen.

🕸️Dealt with panicked phone call from my dad as his WordPress site had half-vanished. Although I think I was probably the one who left it about to break it was good to be able to show him how to fix it.

⏰got out of bed and realised my alarm had gone off at least an hour before it needed to so got back under the duvet for another hour.🛌

🏊🏻‍♀️we were later than usual to the swimming pool which meant it was quieter and I felt a bit less half drowned when I was done.🌊

💪didn’t apologise for something that wasn’t my fault. would have felt better in the short term making things up but not in the long term.

🧮 My brain wasn’t in coding mode so I did the bookkeeping instead. Needs doing sometime, so at least something got done.

💡Bored brain came up with something completely unrelated that might be quite a good idea. Might prove not a good idea in time but it gave me something fun to think about.

🍪I found a packet of chocolate biscuits lurking on top of the cupboard where I’m sure the rest of the family had already looked, but not hard enough

🌫️Woke up too early but there was mist making the world all magically quiet and strange.

🚲Biked to the coffee shop & got some work done there with much less procrastination than I would have had at home.

🌞🍂 Autumn sunshine through the trees.

🚲 A lovely ebike ride to enjoy the above.

⛽️Diesel was 3p/l cheaper than I thought it was on approaching the garage (176.9p/l, I wonder how long until that’ll seem cheap in retrospect? Hope I can forget what diesel is first tbh.)

👓Glasses were lost (not mine), and then they were found which saved a lot of hassle (partly mine).

🪡🧵I realised I’ve been winding bobbins wrong for a dozen years. I feel like I have better tension on the sewing machine now but may be imagining it.

👩🏻‍💻 I started a work thing & got it all finished in one day and nobody has reported it broken yet.

🐷My shopping arrived in the Percy Pig van!

👨‍🔧The gas-person who came to service the boiler that didn’t really need servicing fixed the dodgy burner on the hob as well.
