A few months ago I read reviews of this book and thought it sounded good, but when I went to the library I picked up another Graham Swift book and didn’t get past the first couple of pages. So I wasn’t quite sure whether I’d like this or not.
I did like it. It’s the internal monologue of a mother recounting events of her life during the night before the morning when she is going to reveal something important to her sixteen year old twin children. It’s not really about the revelation - don’t read it looking for mystery - it’s more about the twists and turns that life takes and how things come to be concealed.
