I enjoyed this book but ultimately didn’t think it was quite as good as the first in the series. As much as anything I liked the depiction of the Paris of 1928, it could have become a bit of a caricature city with the number of famous names mentioned but I thought it stopped just shy of it myself. The plot seemed very weak to start with and to randomly wander at times, possibly to get in all the required facets of Paris, and I didn’t believe in Harris as much as in Touchstone - relationships set up in that book are developed here, and there is much that is very good about that, it makes the second half of the book much stronger than the first.
