It’s probably my fault for reading this split into too many short chunks but I never really got a coherent feel for the story. I picked it up because it was on the Bailey’s Prize shortlist and I have good memories of reading A Crime in the Neighborhood when it won the then-Orange Prize back at the end of the last century. Oddly enough for a book I didn’t enjoy that much I think it would be good on a second reading. There was plenty going on, I think I just missed too much of it to really ‘get’ the book.
