The Apartment in Rome

Randomly picked up from the library for some light holiday reading. I didn’t realise I’d read another book by the author a decade back, which apparently I quite enjoyed but obviously not enough to remember it! This had a good cast of characters - some of them young students, then their parent’s generation and also some young refugees - I didn’t think the refugees got explored enough. I felt that though the story was enjoyable enough it could have been more than it was. A lot was left unsaid, which is fine but it felt a bit like it was part of a series and I’d missed the beginning. That’s not really a criticism, it’s just saying that the characters mostly felt like fleshed out real people with real backgrounds and I’d like to have known more about some of them.
