Journey Into Fear by Eric Ambler
Good stuff, on the whole. Ordinaryish sort of an English bloke gets caught up in an assassination plot. It’s wartime and he’s some kind of munitions engineer so I guess he’s not quite so ordinary but he’s clearly out of his depth. An entertaining enough story though there were bits of the ending I found a bit – implausible seems the wrong word, lazily plotted maybe – but then there was one bit of the ending I liked as well. Overall it was a fun read and I have plans to read more of his books, not least because there’s a handful of them around the house that my partner keeps buying (and reading).
