Today I learnt that, despite being in modern day Oldham borough, Saddleworth is historically in the West Riding and the Lancs/Yorks border doesn’t run along the ridge of the Pennines here as I thought it did. Another day I will descend into the valley and find it, along with the western bit of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. I went in search of the Little Don Cycleway. It’s gets plus points for going somewhere you might actually want to go (a decent retail park), neutral points for not linking up to other bike infrastructure (something has to come first), and huge negative points for the barriers that make it a pain to get even my pretty standard width handlebars bike onto it, heaven help you if you have any kind of non standard or disability bike. I also managed to screw up my GPS tracker - I’ve reconstructed it so the path is right but the photos are in the wrong places and I was nowhere near 40mph! #cycling #nationalcyclenetwork #transpenninetrail #ncn62 #ncn67 #ukbikeweek #electricbike #pedelec #cycling

I’ve been looking out for Millennium Mileposts on my NCN rides without success. Found a map this week and discovered that these are the closest ones to me; I haven’t been missing them they are just unevenly distributed around the network and I live in a bare patch. These two were sadly neglected with bad paint jobs, and one was missing its time trail disc.
