UK Snow Twitter Map

Quick note: You're probably looking for Ben's map which he made at about the same time as I made this, but he's developed his a lot more since.

As snow started to fall across the UK on 1st Feb 2009 a #uksnow tag took hold on Twitter providing real time reports of snowfalls. This is my attempt to make something of the data provided by numerous twitter users.

It picks up any tweet containing "#uksnow", a UK postcode (first part only) and optionally a mark in the form x/y indicating how hard it's snowing.

Click on the markers to see the tweets. Reload to see new tweets.

Currently showing tweets between and .

Show latest tweets; Show earlier tweets (you can keep going backwards...)

Now you can also look at earlier tweets by time (it maxes out at 500 at a time - map is a bit nutty at that level!):

Ben Marsh has made a much prettier map, nice one. Let me know via twitter of any others you spot.

People keep giving the snow negative marks... so I've put them in blue....

I'm fixing minor problems with the tweets & the map all the time, if you spot any though please let me know. This is now mothballed and I only intend to keep it in working order.
