Raven Black

Raven Black by Ann Cleeves

In books read on October 30, 2011

In the beginning I thought this was a bit slow and expected it to stay very cosyish. In the end I loved it and can't wait to read the second volume! It's not at all cosy and rather dark in many ways. I think it's a "quartet" rather than a "series" so I'm hoping that the story arcs begun in this first book are going to go somewhere good.

The Ghostly Term at Trebizon (Trebizon, #11)

The Ghostly Term at Trebizon (Trebizon, #11) by Anne Digby

In books read on October 23, 2011

This one I have definitely read before, although it wasn't published until I was 18, I must have picked it up somewhere and at least skim-read it at some point. I couldn't remember the plot clearly and I think it's a bit weak compared to some of the others. Enjoyable to catch up on all the same.

Isa and May

Isa and May by Margaret Forster

In books read on October 22, 2011

I really like Margaret Forster's books and am always a bit scared to start them in case they let me down. In the beginning I thought this one was a bit off the mark and the central character rather wishy-washy - but in the end I really liked it and thought Forster had a lot to say about relationships between families.

Pirate King (Mary Russell, #11)

Pirate King (Mary Russell, #11) by Laurie R. King

In books read on October 14, 2011

I kind of got lost reading this, it's entertaining enough and I certainly didn't dislike it, but it didn't hold my attention as much as the recent Mary Russell books have done.

This was a hardback.
